| Interpretation of Similarity Index |
- It reports on the total amount of matching texts
- It colour highlights and groups with the source where it came from
- Looks at the total % for individual similarities
- A single similarity of <5% is good
- For example, if total is 37% but each individual % is 1 and <1, it’s good
- If one similarity however has a high % (5+) that will be a red flag, and would need to be addressed
- Exclude references and direct quotes
- If folder is too big, recipient can be added to the iThenticate account to access their folder only

Analyse iThenticate’s match overview, and edit accordingly
- Not all matches are meaningful (common sentences /knowledge will be picked up)
