Ms Hanlie Baudin holds a B.Bibl (with majors in Library and Information Science) degree from the University of Pretoria (1991), a postgraduate diploma (PGDipLIS) in Library and Information Science (2019) and a master’s degree in Digital Curation (M.Phil.) from the University of Cape Town.
She started her career at the Library Service of the Gauteng Provincial Administration in 1992 as a cataloguer, and then moved to the Acquisitions department of the University of Stellenbosch. In 2001, she joined LIBFO, attending to various activities in law libraries in and around Johannesburg and Pretoria. In 2004 she joined the HSRC as a research outputs consultant where she managed the HSRC’s Research Outputs collection. During 2018 she joined the Digital Curation unit in the eResearch Knowledge Centre responsible for the curation of research outputs and data. As a senior member of the team, she took part in curation projects, developed policies and procedures and provided training. In 2022 she was promoted to the Head of Digital Scholarship Services (DSS), managing the curation, storage, dissemination and impact of the HSRC’s Research Output and Data collections. Ms Baudin also participates in the activities of the Network of Data and Information Curation Communities (NeDICC) as a member of the steering committee. Outside of work, she enjoys painting and other creative arts, as well as gardening and movies.
