Implement the HSRC's research strategy

How does the HSRC's research strategy influence knowledge production?

The HSRC Strategic Plan is strongly aligned with national strategies, notably the NDP: Vision 2030 (2012), government's MTSF for the  2019–2024 electoral period and the White Paper on Science, Technology and Innovation (2019) and associated five-year and decadal implementation plans.

The HSRC uses research capability as part of its strategic outcome-oriented goals.

Five (5) performance measurements – the LeaPTT+S Indicators – have been identified:

  1. National, regional and global leadership in the production and use of knowledge to support the eradication of poverty, the reduction of inequalities and the promotion of employment (LEADERSHIP)
  2. A consolidated relationship of trust and influence with Government to help guide and inform policy (POLICY INFLUENCE)
  3. Recognition as a trusted and engaged research partner with scientific communities and civil society (PARTNERSHIPS)
  4. Transformed research capabilities (TRANSFORMED CAPABILITIES)
  5. Sustainable income streams (SUSTAINABILITY)

Within each of these objectives, indicators with targets are set for the HSRC, each division as well as for individuals.
